The
Lighthouse Changes
Over
the years the appearance of the Lighthouse and it's buildings had changed.
The causes for the changes were due to a variety of reasons, including
updating for modern convienances, making more livable and maintenance.
During
the seventies, an era not remembered for it's architecural highlights,
aluminum windows and plain looking doors began appearing.

The
Renovation
Due
to the tireless efforts of Cullen Chambers and the Tybee Island Historical
Society the buildings are being restored to their former glory.
At
great expense every detail of the bygone era has been lovingly recreated.
Using a combination of old photographs (see head
keepers cottage main page), memories of the Jackson family
(Jackson was the last lighthouse keeper) and written records the Lighthouse
and Head Keepers Cottage have been faithfully renovated.
